Backing up patient and camera data does not have to be a chore.
Backing up patient and camera data on a regular basis may sound like a big chore and you probably don’t want to add another item to your to-do list each day. However, it is a very important function in avoiding disaster. In the event of a hard drive crash, you could be left high and dry for days. Even just a few hours can translate into lost revenue and time spent on the phone with service reps. If you are backing up every day, that’s something you won’t really need to worry about and it’s very simple to do.
For patient data, all you need is a portable external hard drive with archive software. Nowadays, you can find portable drives up to 8 terabytes with archive software preloaded. At set up, you just choose a daily back-up time, set it, and walk away. You will be backed up and ready to deal with a crash without even having to think about it.
Camera data can be a little tougher. For this we offer a very useful tool called Critical Product Recovery (CPR). Free to Universal service contract customers, CPR is an application that backs-up your camera data to provide archival restoration in as little as an hour after fixing or replacing your hard drive. Without CPR backup it could take as many as 4-days to return to operation. Right now, CPR is available for use with Philips/ADAC systems but additional manufacturer brands will be added.
