How CoxHealth delivers new technology, medical advancements, and excellent care to Southern Missouri
CoxHealth, which first started in 1906, is a not-for-profit health system based in the Springfield, Missouri area. The system is comprised of five hospitals and more than 80 physician clinics with walk-in care, urgent care, four ERs and a Level 1 trauma center. The system employs over 10,000 people across Southern Missouri. As one of Springfield’s largest employers, CoxHealth strives to be a leader in not only health care but in community involvement as well.
“Universal has been an absolute pleasure to work with. We haven’t had an issue with our QuantumCam yet, but if we ever do, it’s comforting to know that they will be here to assist us with whatever we may need. We are pleased with the QuantumCam and with the relationship we’ve built with Universal.”
Jackie Muenks, Director of Radiology, Martin Center, CoxHealth
After operating for more than 100 years, CoxHealth continues to serve the Southern Missouri community through quality health care, education, and research. The system reaches a patient population of more than a half-million people across seven counties including Christian, Dallas, Greene, Polk, Webster, Stone, and Taney.
CoxHealth offers a full range of diagnostic medical services, with most services available in multiple locations to make things as convenient as possible for their patients. It is imperative that their patients have short wait times, receive results quickly, and never experience delays. That means investing in cutting-edge medical imaging equipment. CoxHealth’s primary outpatient imaging facility, The Martin Center, is extremely busy. Its diagnostic imaging services include MRI, ultrasound, CT, nuclear medicine, and routine X-ray.
Leading-Edge Diagnostic Imaging Technology
As a chief imaging outpatient site with a large and continuously growing patient population, the Martin Center must be able to perform all necessary scans when needed–no matter the level of demand. In order to sustain the growth, CoxHealth needed to add another general purpose SPECT system, but space was limited. Jackie Muenks, Director of Radiology at the Martin Center, and her team considered different manufacturers’ systems. The GE and Siemens systems would not fit in the small repurposed X-ray room, the only room available for the new SPECT camera. Their search ended after learning about the QuantumCam.
The DDD-Diagnostic QuantumCam SPECT offered by Universal fit all the requirements the Martin Center radiology team was seeking. Universal Medical Resources (Universal), the North American distributor of the QuantumCam, brought Jackie and her team to their facility in Washington, Missouri to inspect the system and make sure it was exactly what they needed. After working with the Universal team and getting hands-on experience with the QuantumCam they knew it was the right solution. “The QuantumCam has an innovative design that can provide the full spectrum of nuclear medicine procedures and operates comfortably in a smaller space than usual space,” stated Joshua Ljunggren, Martin Center nuclear medicine technologist, “there are other small footprint nuclear cameras on the market, but only the QuantumCam with its unique design delivers the full range of nuclear imaging and does so in a minimum amount of space.”
By choosing to purchase the QuantumCam from Universal, CoxHealth received a brand new state-of-the-art nuclear imaging system and expert installation and training experience too. The installation process was very easy and cost-effective compared to other vendors. The applications training provided was simple yet informative. CoxHealth also receives support and parts from Universal whenever they may need it. Universal has already performed an improvement upgrade on the system. Acquiring the QuantumCam and continuing to work with Universal enables CoxHealth to exceed patient expectations and keep pace with growth in their department.
CoxHealth continues to provide its patients with advanced diagnostic medical imaging services and technology year after year. Obtaining the QuantumCam and utilizing the expertise of Universal Medical Resources, CoxHealth is able to meet their organizational requirements and give their patients the high level of care they deserve.
