How Wickenburg Community Hospital is bringing diagnostic imaging services to rural Arizona

Wickenburg Community Hospital (Wickenburg) is a non-profit Critical Access Hospital and Level IV Trauma Center owned and operated by citizens of Wickenburg, Arizona. As the only hospital in a remote community, Wickenburg depends on cutting edge, state-of-the-art technology to provide patients urgent care in town. Expanding Services for Complete Care

During summer of 2016, Wickenburg Community Hospital remodeled their medical imaging department and expanded its services to include a brand new surgical and diagnostic center. The surgical and diagnostic center opened August of 2016 and has been providing a comprehensive set of studies and services including: Computerized Tomography, Breast Sonography, Interventional Radiology, Digital Radiography, Digital Fluroscopy, Vascular Sonography, and General Sonography. In preparation for their brand new nuclear medicine program, Wickenburg conducted an exhaustive search to find the SPECT system best suited for their department needs and budget. Wickenburg looked to the nuclear medicine experts, Universal Medical (Universal), to assist them with their search.

After reaching out to Universal, Account Manager Mike Rose consulted with them about their upcoming expansion and diagnostic needs to find a camera that could perform a range of cardiac, SPECT, and general purpose nuclear medicine studies as well as fit in the new space. Together they picked the optimal system to fulfill the department’s needs – a reconditioned GE Millennium MG. Working in such a budget minded industry, a reconditioned system just made sense. Reconditioned systems are just as good as new systems – at a fraction of the cost, making it an easy decision for management. Universal’s expert technicians performed the installation, provided application training, and will be providing support and parts (when necessary) in the future.
