“Bone SPECT/CT is a potentially highly cost-saving and dominant imaging intervention versus CT or MARS-MRI scanning in patients with recurrent and persistent knee pain after TKA,” wrote Wyngaert et al. Total-knee arthroplasty has proven itself over many years but, there are those patients who continue to suffer with pain after the surgery. Now we see a new application for SPECT that not only matches or exceeds CT or MRI but reduces the cost of the diagnostic procedure.
