Even with the unexpected shut down of two reactors in the Mo-99 production chain for what appears to be maintenance issues, the providers of Technetium generators are working the system and making certain that this 1-2 week slight shortage is addressed and there will be sufficient doses to meet patient scanning requirements. This is good news for the nuclear medicine community. The continued cooperation and interaction between the reactor operators and the Technetium generator producers assures everyone that there will be adequate production to meet patient needs even when there are unexpected interruptions in the supply chain.
