Two American companies announce substantial progress in securing a domestic supply of Moly-99

Recently, two companies announced they are building facilities to expand the production of Moly-99 for the stabilization of the supply of radiopharmaceuticals in the United States.  SHINE recently received a 91-acre parcel from the City of Janesville, Wisconsin and they expect to be breaking ground within a month on their new facility.  In separate press release another company, medical isotope firm Coquí RadioPharmaceuticals announced they received a transfer of land in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, from the U.S. Department of Energy on which the company plans to build a medical isotope production facility, primarily to manufacture Moly-99.  They project the plant will be operational in 2025.  These two press releases are very encouraging as they demonstrate the commitment to produce a domestic supply of Moly-99 for the continuing supply of Tc-99m radiopharmaceuticals.
