The DOE has provided funding to NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes and other companies developing alternatives to older reactor production of Moly-99. In its latest announcement, NorthStar announced it entered into an agreement with IBA to purchase up to 8-of its electron beam accelerators to produce a non-uranium based source of Moly-99. Two are already on order.
